Rowan Katz is a vocalist, songwriter, poet, folklorist, physical theater artist, facilitator and somatic voice educator. They also lead Oakland-based diasporic folk project "Anam Chaya". Their work most often concerns themes of gender expression and identity, trauma healing, queerness, Jewish diaspora, recovery, abolition, rematriation, grief, and mysticism. Touted as a powerhouse vocalist and performer, Rowan uses performance and education as a way to dismantle shame and foster expression, intimacy, critical engagement, and embodied connection in community.

Recent credits include "Songs of Truth: Holocaust Awareness Concert and Conversations" with the Golden Gate Symphony (soloist, coordinator), Free Key Choir (soloist, composer), HBO's "Scavengers Reign" (vocalist), THEYFRIEND Festival (featured artist), As Above/So Below at Marin MOCA (performer), SF Jazz @ SF MOMA (performer), and Glenview Classical Series (featured artist). Rowan also teaches workshops on singing as a tool of political resistance and healing in the East Bay and abroad.
